Welcome to

CollectiveFutureDream

A Gathering Anthology.

Maybe you find yourself here after The Infinite Wrench. Maybe you wrote your line of poetry on a slip of paper and placed it in the cardboard box, trusting that it would find a home. Maybe you hesitated- “I’m not a poet,” maybe you said, or, “I’m not really into audience participation.” Maybe you find yourself here by happenstance. However you got here, I’m glad you made it.

These are CollectiveFutureDreams, a collaborative poetry project created by Neo-Futurist Katie Kay Chelena. The first CollectiveFutureDream was made during the Summer of 2020, when both futures and collectives and sometimes dreams were harder to access. But they’re all practices: collective work, futurework, dreamwork.

So here we are. Practicing together.

The following poems are composed of individual lines from INFINITE WRENCH audiences. Looking for yours? New CollectiveFutureDreams will be posted by the end of the weekend. You can also find them on Instagram at @collectivefuturedream.

Thanks for CollectiveFutureDreaming with us.

Love, Katie

CollectiveFutureDream #1 // Summer 2020

CollectiveFutureDream 2 // Feb 24, 2023

In my dreams, I sleep deeper. I fly.

In my dreams, I have no face, but you’re there.

Full brain. All the notes of love are heightened.

In my dreams, I’m eating butterscotch. I wonder

of sweet things. We run through tulips, laugh our heads off.

My teeth always fall out, my carapice unfolds,

(my friends tell me those are nightmares)

I’m 6’2” and reach all my kitchen shelves.

In my dreams, humans are better.

I am the ocean. They chase me

but never catch.

In my dreams, I know the future,

In the future, I understand my dreams.

In the future, I’m even cooler.

I am bold. We all die, stardust,

Unknown present combines with unknown past.

We’re gonna have to check on some stuff

that is only inconvenient now.

We’ll think of those words we said to those people.

We’ll think of the flan we didn’t eat.

CollectiveFutureDream 3 // Feb 25, 2023

In my dreams, we’re flying and that’s all there is.

In my dreams, stars are oozing out in iridescent waves.

In my dreams, I am hungry. I do not have a body.

In the future, everything’s fine, basically fine, little bit of hiccup.

In the future, sparkling, glistening woods, pickles dogs frogs lions skittles.

In the future, dreams have advertisements.

You’ve got to unionize hell.

In the future, breathing is free. A dandelion drifts in the wind.

In the future, I learn how to make a great cup of coffee.

In the future, I’ll have four cats. I will exist.

I would like to be. I want to feel good again.

In the future, I will eat ice cream.

I’ll try my very best as I stumble in this dress.
