“The Soup Show” features Cara Francis, Desiree Burch, and Erica Livingston naked in a giant pot of self-made soup. Instantly creating intimacy and tension with the audience, the atmosphere of the play draws from interaction with this sensual centerpiece. Incorporating ingredients from interviews, living newspaper, and personal stories, Soup Show will observe the female as consumer and consumed and as an agent of conflict and commodity. We will discuss whether forms of oppression exploit or are exploited by their victims, and what we’ve gained and lost through liberation. Ultimately, “Soup Show” will feed its audience with a question: How far has the women’s movement moved us?
