Laika Dog In Space

Written and performed by Rob Neil, Jill Beckman, and Eevin Hartsough
Directed by Phil Ridarelli
Musical accompaniment by John Pierson, John Bliss, John Szymanski, Carl Riehl

Laika was a Soviet space dog and the first living mammal to orbit the earth. She was sent to space with the intention that scientists would collect data about her orbit until she ran out of oxygen and died which is more or less what happened (she actually died within a few hours of launch, likely from stress and overheating). In LAIKA DOG IN SPACE, we imagine that Laika lives on, content as a solo dog in space, but also happy and interested to receive the occasional visitor.
